Summer Community Service

The list below is provided to assist you in fulfilling your summer community service requirements. This list was checked by the cadet staff and should provide you with a lot of opportunities for community service. If you have any problems with this list or the organizations, please let one of the instructors know as soon as possible. If you want to perform community service at an organization other than those listed below, you must get prior approval from Capt Doughty or SMSgt Stewart. Have a great summer!



1. Aid for Aids of Nevada (AFAN) (16 & older)

2. American Cancer Society (14 & older)

4. American Red Cross (14 & older)

5. Blind Center of Nevada (17 & older)

6. Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas (under 18)

7. Youth Volunteer Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer (16 & older)

-Help with special events and office tasks.

8. Clark County Parks and Recreation (12 & older)

-Provide activities and tutoring to kids after schools and on Saturdays.

9. Gilcrease Bird Sanctuary (16 & older)

-Assist with maintenance, construction, and animal care.

10. Las Vegas Natural History Museum (13 & older)

-The Las Vegas Natural History Museum provides a variety of opportunities for volunteers. The duties and expectations of volunteers will vary on their interest and experience level. Tasks and activities may include interacting with museum guests in various galleries (Dinosaur, Ocean, Egypt, Africa, etc.), assist with simple maintenance dusting, fixing signs, sweeping (example of this would be sweeping sandbox sand from the floor to avoid slip hazards for the children) and assisting staff with prepping arts and crafts activities. Volunteers may be called upon to help with museum activities in form of setting up tables and chairs, hosting activities, guest interactions, and cleaning up after the event for the day's business. If volunteer shows interest in helping our live animal department, paleo department, education department or being a gallery docent, the proper training will be offered (depending on availability for that department).

11. University Medical Center (UMC) (14 & older)

-Volunteers needed to assist with office duties, medical records, kid’s activities and more.

-Assist with social events and fundraising.

12. Volunteer Center of S. Nevada (12 & older)

15. Clark County Social Services (High School Students)

-Uses volunteers to do yard work for seniors-low income families.

16. Jewish Family Service Agency

17. Interfaith Hospitality Network (over 18)

-Shelter for families. Volunteers needed to assist families with long-term shelter, jobs, and more. Donations accepted.

18. Las Vegas Rescue Mission (no infants)

19. Lutheran Social Services Food Pantry
